2 Postdoc positions available

French version

Two postdoc positions are available for computational and theoretical studies in the framework of the Human Brain Project (see Human Brain Project grant page; see also the Human Brain Project website). The theoretical work associated to these two postdoctoral positions consists of (1) investigating models and mathematical techniques to link different scales of neuronal activity (from cellular scale, up to large scales and population levels); (2) investigate biophysical models of the different brain signals (intracellular, local field potentials, VSD, EEG, MEG...); (3) to model the genesis of spontaneous activity states in networks of cortical neurons, as well as model different states of the wake-sleep cycle; (4) to investigate the principles of computation by single neurons and neural circuits.

This work will be donc in tight collaboration with the European Institute for Theoretical Neuroscience in Paris, under the direction of A. Destexhe. It will also be in collaboration with other researchers of the Human Brain Project.

We are looking for two postdocs (2 year contracts with possible extension), who will work on the subjects described above. The candidates should ideally be physicists with strong background in computational modeling, although other backgrounds are also possible. Candidates should have a PhD degree - there is no restriction on nationality.

The project will be conducted at the UNIC, which is a CNRS research unit (UPR 3293, Dir. Y. Frégnac) comprising 6 different laboratories, mixing experimental and theoretical neuroscience. The UNIC is part of the Alfred Fessard Neurobiology Institute (INAF; Dir. P. Vernier), located in the CNRS campus of Gif sur Yvette. The CNRS Campus comprises about 2000 researchers focusing on neuroscience, molecular biology or genetics, and is affiliated with several universities and engineering schools in the Paris Region (Ecole Polytechnique, Sup-Elec, Pierre & Marie Curie University Paris, University of Orsay, Ecole Normale Superieure Paris).

Candidates should contact for more details, and consult the site http://cns.iaf.cnrs-gif.fr (more details on the project can be found in the Human Brain Project website.

We also have other positions available, such as postdoc positions, graduate student positions and visiting researchers positions (typically from one to 6 months). There are also possibilities of permanent positions at CNRS (see CNRS web site). Please contact us for more details.
